On the day you were born my heart was opened to a kind of joy and love I’d never known. Each of you were born during a different phase in my life, each of you born to a different version of me. One of you had a free spirited momma with an abundance of energy and youth, one of you had a hopeful momma with more knowledge and experience but with an extra protective nature, and one of you had a grieving momma with a far less energy but years of wisdom, confidence, and experience.

The momma you all have in common is one who will always and forever stand by your side, encourage you, support you, fight for you, and love you unconditionally with all her heart. I promise to always continue to do my best to be everything you need me to be.

I promise to extend grace, to make some mistakes, and to apologize when I do. I promise to read one more book, to “do the face thing”, to do whatever you want “just one more time”. I promise to make a late night run for ice cream, to play games until the wee hours of the morning, only to wake up at the crack of dawn to have coffee and quiet time with you, I promise to keep the snack cabinet full of your favorites and to always cook your favorite things when you come home. I promise endless dance parties from the kitchen and up to the playroom (from the windows to the wall 😂) strobe lights and all, I promise to think before I speak and to speak with love and kindness. I promise to always be there when you need me. I promise to work hard for you and to continue to better myself and strive to fully be the woman God designed me to be. I promise to always leave the light on. I promise to always kiss you through the window. I promise to keep waving until I can no longer see your taillights.

Forever and for always, I will love you more, infinity circle, square, triangle, a bushel and a peck, all the way to heaven and back down... have I told you lately?

Over the last 20+ years and from now until forever, when anyone asks me how I’ve been able to find joy in my life after experiencing/surviving such tremendous loss and trauma my answer is simple. One word: God.

He’s never left my side and has provided the most perfect peace that can only come from Him. Through it all, He protects me, carries me, sustains me, strengthens me.

He loves me.

And He loves you.

He is where I find my joy.

After having my last child I couldn’t find the desire or energy to read for “fun”. If I did read, I read my Bible or something for professional or personal development. During that time I felt if I had anytime to read, it should be spent learning and or developing myself.

Truth is, I missed reading for the art and enjoyment. I missed the escape, the joy it brought, the places I could visit, the new friends I could meet. I missed finding myself on the pages, relating with a character or author… once again knowing I wasn’t alone in my experiences and feelings.

I picked up my first book in July and set my reading goal for the remainder of the year. July through December = 6 months, if I read 2 books per month = 24 books, so let’s bump my goal to 25. Sounds reasonable…? Right?!

WRONG! 😂

I read 43. I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t get enough. After 10 years away from reading there was plenty of content, new authors, new characters, new stories. I was back!

Like all good things, I want to share them with others. So join me again this year as I continue to read to my hearts content (housework be damned!).

Please tag me in your faves as I only read by personal recommendations and book launch teams. Ain’t nobody got time for a bland book.

I’ll also share books that I label DNF or NRN. I only reshelved a few books this year either because I wasn’t in the mood for that genre or I simply didn’t have the time and wanted to pass them along to others who were waiting.

My goal for this year is to double what I read last year since I started in July PLUS read my Bible again. Soooo…
